Old book covers make a great canvas
Old hardback book covers, from second hand shops, are great to paint and draw on.
Inspired by the Scottish painter Andrew Cranston, we started exploring this in art class. I explored it some more on my own. You have to tear out all the pages (which actually can be reused in many ways, so I save them).
You can use the outside or inside of the cover. One of the charms of the outside , is that you can still see the titles, which gives the work an extra touch.
Here are some of the works I made. Olive tree home to the left/top. Below: Walk and wonder, Dalfsen view (close up & far away) and a fast sketch and oil pastel called Out and about.
On my page out and about, I share another book cover painting.
